Early Symptoms of Pregnancy
- Implantation bleeding: Spotting after conception as the fertilized egg embedded in the uterus.
- Low abdominal cramps.
- White, milky vaginal discharge.
- Sore and swollen breasts and breast pain.
- Fatigue and sleepiness.
- Missed period.
- Nausea or morning sickness.
Later pregnant women may experience:
- Frequent urination.
- Constipation
- Mood swings.
- Lightheadedness, dizziness, and fainting.
- Headache and backache.
Advices for routine problems you may experience in pregnancy.
- Backache: You can reduce back pain with mild exercise, gentle massage, hot pads, and Paracetamol.
- Constipation: Increase water intake, fiber diet, and you may use stool softeners and laxatives.
- Edema:
- Elevate your legs.
- Sleep on your side.
- Severe edema in face and hands may be indicative for pre-eclampsia and need investigations.
- Gastroesopheal reflux:
- Eat multiple small meals per day.
- Avoid lying down within an hour of eating.
- Medication could be given if with continued symptoms.
- Round ligament pain: This is often self-limited and could be relieved with hot pads and Paracetamol.
- Urinary frequency: Be sure that the increased voiding is normal and you should keep taking adequate amount of water.
- Hemorrhoids:
- Increase fluids and fibers in your diet.
- Stool softener.
- Topical anesthesia and steroids for pain and swelling.
