Tooth Sensitivity Treatment Method

Teeth sensitivity never disappear completely. Symptoms of teeth sensitivity may be less or even go away for a while but unless the reasons of sensitivity are completely eliminated, it will come and go.

There are several types of treatments available to either eliminate or reduce teeth sensitivity. However, there is no single treatment option that works for everyone.

Proper diagnosis of teeth sensitivity reasons is so important in treatment chosen because it will be more successful in decreasing sensitivity pain. Otherwise the problem will continue and it might get worse.

There are some dental procedures that help to reduce tooth sensitivity:

  • Varnish or fluoride gel.
  • Dental sealants: It’s usually applied to the exposed root surface.
  • Dental fillings, crowns, veneers or bonding: It helps to fix a tooth flaw or cavity that is causing sensitivity.

Home treatments include:

  • Use a soft-bristled or extra-soft toothbrush.
  • Fluoridated mouthwash daily.
  • Avoid highly acidic foods.
  • Consider getting a mouth guard in case of teeth grinding.
